Hooters under voluntary administration | SBS News

Administrators have been called into the financially troubled Hooters chain in Australia, with plans to sell the businesses.

Financial services giant Deloitte has been appointed to administer Hoot Australia, Hoot Parramatta, Hoot Campbelltown, Hoot Townsville and Hoot Gold Coast.

Deloitte on Friday confirmed handling the administration of the company, with Deloitte’s restructuring services partners’ Michael Billingsley saying it was early days in terms of his involvement.

“We expect to commence marketing the business for sale shortly with a view to selling as a going concern to maintain employment for staff and ongoing trading for suppliers,” he said.

All five restaurants, listed in notices by the corporate watchdog the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) remain open.

Hooters Australia and the four other companies responsible for its restaurants are registered to the same suburb in western Sydney.

The US “breastraunt” chain well known for its deep fried sports bar offerings and waitresses of certain physical proportions opened its first Australian restaurant in 2006.

Hooters expanded from three restaurants in western Sydney to two more in Queensland with a Townsville location opening May 2015.
